Program Basics
Gaja Health is a health advocacy company focused on helping you with what matters most - overcoming challenges in your home and surrounding community to improve your health and wellbeing.

We are partnering with Anthem to support you as you use your Nutrition Life Essentials Kit benefit. Our program includes access to a team of Health Advocates - trained and experienced professionals who have been where you and your family are and whose only job is supporting you.
Gaja aims to personalize your experience of our medical system by giving you access to a partner to help you navigate healthcare and your own wellbeing. Most experiences with your medical care team are often too transactional. You may have experienced being paired with someone who really doesn’t understand you, despite their best intentions. Gaja values relationship building and focuses on helping you improve your health and live a happier healthy life on your terms.
Anthem employees who are enrolled in the Anthem Nutrition Life Essentials Kit, and received our “Welcome to Gaja Health” email.
Gaja’s services are paid for by Anthem and therefore free to eligible employees as part of your Nutrition Life Essentials Kit.

Your Gaja Health experience starts by getting to know a Health Advocate over a 30-40 minute phone call. Once you have created your account, use the “Schedule call” button on your home screen to schedule a call.

Accessible support

Your Health Advocates are available 12 hour a day, 5 days a week. Reach out at your convenience with questions, comments or concerns you may have. Their aim is to support you living a healthier life by addressing your mind, body and soul. You can go to them with problems, questions, or support related to your goals and wellbeing.

An App made just for you

With the Gaja Health app you can access tools aimed to reduce the stress and anxiety of staying on track with a healthy lifestyle. Think of it as a Personal Assistant in the palm of your hands, ready to help with finding recipes, self-care exercises, and tips to take small steps towards reaching your health goals.

In addition to the available in-app tools, your advocates can help personalize health-related educational content to you and your family’s unique needs.

Getting Started
  1. Download the App: click here for iOS or here for Android
  2. Click the “Create Account” button
    1. Enter your Anthem email address
    2. Set up your new Gaja Health password
    3. Enter your contact info
    4. Read and sign our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
    5. Enter the App
  3. Schedule your Intro call by clicking the “Schedule call” button, then:
    1. Choose a time
    2. Input your information
    3. Click “Schedule event”
Use the “Schedule call” button on the Home screen in your app, which will direct you to From there you simply need to:
  1. Choose a time
  2. Input your information
  3. Click “Schedule event”
  4. Check your calendar/email - you should receive a calendar invite as a confirmation.

The Intro call is meant to help your Advocate learn more about you, your goals, and also identify things that may be getting in your way.

During the call, your Health Advocate will focus on asking questions about things like food, your LEK benefit, stress, your health, etc.

In the end, it is your choice to share whatever information you want with us, and we will meet you where you are at to focus on what is most important to you.

Our Solution - Health Advocacy
A Health Advocate is a trusted professional whose job it is to support you. Think of your Advocates as a personal coach, navigator, and supporter. They will check in during your program to see how you are doing, but are also there for you when you need them. All you have to do is ask!

Our Gaja Health Advocacy team can help you with:

  1. Getting the most out of Nutrition LEK benefit dollars
  2. Help setting goals and building healthy habits
  3. Supporting you and your family in eating nutritious meals (taking care of your body), meditating (taking care of your mind), and taking care of your financial health with user-friendly budget tools and resources.
Our experienced Health Advocacy team comes with cumulatively 40+ years of experience supporting members and their families in their environment.


Lorena Carmona, Gaja Health’s Community Health Work Team Lead, is a Certified Community Health Worker with a B.A. in Sociology and Behavioral Science, and is American Heart Association Certified. Passionate about bringing resources and education to her community, Lorena is also a Diabetes Advocate and trainer, through which she uses her skills and experience to teach her community about critical diabetes management. She looks forward to connecting and serving you and your family.


Eduardo Jasso, our Director of Social Work, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked across the healthcare delivery spectrum in community health, acute care, post-acute care, in-home care, inpatient psychiatric and hospice. He focuses on supporting members and their families by coordinating care and helping manage psychological and social stress individuals and families experience when facing chronic illness. He has a B.S. in Sociology from UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in Social Work from California State University East Bay. He looks forward to serving you and your family through the challenging times we are all living in.

Using Your Gaja Health App
The App has 3 main functions:

  1. Chat: use the chat to ask questions about things that are getting in your way day-to-day, especially regarding your Nutrition Life Essentials Kit benefit, your nutrition, and your goals.
  2. Search ffor recipes, self-care exercises, and educational tips on the Search page.
  3. Save rrecipes, exercises, tips, etc. that you like by clicking the heart icon.
Advocacy team hours are from approximately 10 am to 10 pm eastern time, 7 am to 7 pm pacific.
Call 9-1-1 for serious medical emergencies. If you don’t need help right away, leave your Health Advocacy team a message and they’ll respond as soon as they’re back on-line.
The “Budget” category and $ filter buttons allow you to sort your recipe results by relative cost. While these don’t pertain to a specific dollar amount, selecting either category is a helpful way to find recipes that use inexpensive ingredients that won’t break the bank.
We understand there are times when you’d prefer to hear the voice of someone you trust. If this is the case, feel free to send a message to a Health Advocate to set up a time to talk.
